  1. How you can keep Bees!

The honey bee is the gardener's best friend. Excellent pollinators, their activity in your garden is so important for a good harvest. By keeping a hive, you can develop an exciting partnership with bees, benefitting them, your garden, and yourself.

In this workshop you will discover how we can work in harmony with our friends, the bees. By providing them with a ready made hive, we save them time and effort, enabling them to gather a better harvest. When we protect the bees in this way, we can also help them stay healthy and survive the cold season.

With our support the bees produce more honey than they need, so they can afford to share some with us! Nothing compares with the taste of honey from your own beehive; it's one of the nicest ways the garden returns our effort.

You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy beekeeping

This Workshop gives you the know-how to begin the craft of beekeeping. You will get practical experience, learning to work with our bees, giving you confidence to manage your own hive. You don't need expensive equipment to begin with either (we also offer a Beehive Building Workshop).

We hope you'll find this partnership with bees as enjoyable as we do.

Bees at work on the brood-comb

A bee's life is all about cooperation.

It's always very exciting to catch a swarm - but you need technique, and a bit of luck!

Working with bees requires a calm and relaxed approach.
