Fences always have two sides: one is to stop the   animals from straying; the other to keep predators out.

  1. Farm Animals

One doesn't need a big farm to have farm animals. In the old days it was very common for country people to keep chickens, pigs, a goat or two, even a cow if they had enough space. (Farm animals were an essential part of life and supplied eggs, milk, cheese and meat for the family)

Be Their Two-Legged Friend

Our Animal Husbandry Workshop will give you valuable knowledge that can't be easily found these days. Working with farm animals can be incredibly rewarding and fun when you have the basic skills.  Benefit from our experience and learn how to avoid the common mistakes. In our Workshop we'll explain where you have to be careful (and how to ensure the well-being of your animals.)

Experience the pleasure of drinking real milk at breakfast, that you milked yourself, by hand!

During the Workshop you will feed the various animals of Blueberry Hill Farm and learn about providing a balanced diet and the different feedstuffs. We will also examine the necessary types of pasture and habitat for each species

What you will learn about:

  1. the principles of animal husbandry

  2. choosing the right species and breeds for your needs

  3. animal life cycles

  4. animal housing

  5. habitat and pasture

  6. fencing - electric, wire and wood

  7. healthy and economical feedstuffs

  8. animal handling and control

  9. animal health-care and welfare

It's lovely when the relationship between human and animal grows into friendship.

The birth of a calf is always a special experience.

The human being is at the top of the food-chain. That's why it's important what we feed our animals – (for their benefit and ours.)

Our Workshops. Like an exciting farm-holiday, with learning experience.

Animal welfare also means providing a safe and comfortable habitat.

Many animals are very sensitive. The better you know what they need and how they feel, the happier they will be.

It's easy to milk a cow once you know how!
